The American Revolution took place from 1775-83, and it resulted in the independence of the 13 British occupied American colonies, which eventually led to the formation of the   ‘United States of America.’ The ultimate reason behind the war was the imposition of tax in colonies. At the time of the Seven Years War (which took place between France and the British imperial forces from 1756 to 63), the British empire was successful in annexing many new territories. The annexation brought the emergence of new rules of taxation, which made the colonists discontent. They executed so by taxing commodities imported to America by implanting the Townshend Act of 1767.

Similarly, the Stamp Act was introduced in 1765, according to which any printed materials such as newspapers, magazines are to be done on a type of paper called the ‘Stamp Paper.’ These papers were prepared in London, and Taxes were charged for that. The Tea act of 1773, opened up vast opportunities for the British empire to sell tea to the American colonies at a lesser price. Earlier, the company was required to sell tea in London in an auction, and it was also necessary for them to pay taxes. These events infuriated the colonists, and they started protests. One such event was the ‘Boston Massacre,’ which took place in March 1770.

Moreover, there were two factions, one that supported the British empire and was known as the ‘Loyalists’ and the other ‘Patriot’   who were in favor of the colonists. The Boston Massacre occurred as tensions between the factions reached the pinnacle. This eventually led to bloodshed and led to heavy casualties on both sides. Finally, the 13 colonies got independence, and the treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783, which led the British empire to cede most of the territories of the east of the Mississippi River to the United States. The treaty took place between King George III of Great Britain and American Statesman Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and John Adams.
